An Post share Manchester United’s 659 million fans’ strategy for success


The 8th An Post Early Bird Club breakfast took place this morning in Fallon & Byrne. As part of their ongoing investment in supporting Irish business, An Post introduced Casper Stylsvig, global sponsorship director of Manchester United to 100 of Ireland’s top business and marketing minds, to share his top tips for commercial success. Celebrity chef Neven Maguire cooked his take on the Irish-breakfast for the captivated audience.

Casper is a great advocate of Direct Mail and this was a unique opportunity to benefit from his vast experience at Manchester United and formerly FC Barcelona.  Siting one particular campaign to launch a new Manchester United away kit, where the Direct Mail strategy garnered an ultra convincing 300% return on investment, Casper said ‘It’s all about three key steps with direct marketing, research, design and operation’. 

Casper also showed a 3 minute movie, he commissioned especially for Chevrolet Cars in the USA, prior to meeting them about partnering with the club. Safe to say the movie blew Chevrolet away and they commence in 2014 a new shirt sponsorship deal, and most recently sponsored Manchester United’s games in Shanghai, where they, in turn, were able to target motor dealers. This encapsulates business to business direct marketing working in partnership to perfection, according to Casper.

An Post hosts two of these world class events each year, inviting global strategists, and industry experts to speak to a group of top Irish business managers and marketers. The information shared has proven inspirational, insightful and practical in the extreme.

Amie Peters, An Post’s Head of Direct Mail announced key forecasts for 2013, where she stressed the need for on-line and off-line to work closely together in our challenging economic environment.
