An Post Tour of Sligo 2012

Last year an incredible 1,800 participants took to the roads of Sligo for the An Post Tour of Sligo and this year promises to be even better!

The 2012 event will be held on Sunday 6 May and it’s a chance to be active while also enjoying the spectacular scenery on offer in Sligo.

The cycling tour will afford people of Sligo and visitors to the County, the chance to enjoy stunning scenery ranging from majestic mountains to spectacular sea views and including picturesque country scenery and rural villages from the saddle of a bike.

As part of the overall event, there are four different routes of varying degrees of difficulty. Thus the tour will accommodate a wide range of cycling interests, including family cycling, the leisure cyclist and of course, seasoned/experienced cyclists.

This year we are holding the 10K Hazelwood Spin for All on Saturday 5 May for 9yrs+, as well as hosting a Bike Blast Family Day with Skills & Drills for 6-8 year olds, a RampRage BMX Display, fun activities, music and more. Once again for 2012 we have the 60K Lough Gill Circuit, the 100K Innisfree Tour, which was introduced last year and proved very popular, and the 160K Ox Mountain Challenge.

An Post Tour of Sligo 2012 Ambassador
Due to unforeseen circumstances Sean Kelly will be unable to attend An Post Tour of Sligo 2012 as originally planned. However, we are delighted to announce that the ambassador for An Post Tour of Sligo on Sunday 6th May will be John Treacy Olympic Medallist, World Cross Country Champion and CEO of the Irish Sports Council. John will cycle part of each event and is looking forward to meeting cyclists on the day.
