New Philatelic Shop and Museum !

The new Philatelic Shop at the GPO is now open along with a Postal Museum showing the history of the Post Office in Ireland. 

 
The exhibition at the new museum is entitled: Letters, Lives and Liberty.

 
Letters, Lives and Liberty showcases the development of the postal service and its contribution to Irish life and society over the centuries.

The central role played by the GPO and its staff during the events of Easter Monday, 1916 is also shown. 

The exhibit includes historic philatelic and postal memorabilia as well as high-tech interactive displays, and a ‘Pepper’s Ghost’.

The Pepper’s Ghost re-creates how the events of Easter Monday unfolded through the eyes of the Post Office staff on duty on that historic day.
