Dermot Divilly

Chairperson
Announced as Chairperson 1 December 2015

Dermot Divilly has broad experience of boards, corporate governance, shareholders and pensions across diverse industries. He has been CEO of many businesses over his career including Thorn Domestic Appliances Ltd., Killeen Investments Ltd. (distributors of Toyota), Consolidated Holdings Ltd. (solid fuel and shipping company) and Allegro plc (FMCG distributor), where he successfully led a management buy‑out. For the past fifteen years he has been the Executive Chairman and majority shareholder for a number of private equity investments in Ireland and the UK. He has been a non‑executive director of SIAC Ltd. and Aviva Ireland. He is currently Chairman of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board. Mr Divilly holds a first class honours degree in agricultural science as well as a MBA. 

   

Noel Adamson

Appointed 1 November 2016; Second term

Noel Adamson joined the Post Office in 1981 as a Postman in the Central Sorting Office in Dublin’s Sheriff Street. He has been employed as a Postperson for 24 years and is currently based in Swords Delivery Services Unit. Throughout his employment he has been an active member of  the Communications Workers’ Union. He is a member and former chairman of the Union’s Standing Orders Committee and currently holds the positions of Assistant Secretary and Health & Safety Officer with the Dublin Postal Delivery Branch.

Carol Bolger

Director
Appointed 11 May 2017

Carol Bolger is a Chartered Director and an Assessor with the Institute of Director’s Board Evaluation service. She is a Board Member of the Health & Safety Authority, the Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital and a Member of the Audit Committee of the Department of Justice & Equality. She has broad banking experience gained in Corporate and Business Banking in Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank where she held senior roles including Chief Operating Officer and Director of Strategy & Planning.

Carol is a Certified Bank Director and holds qualifications in Finance and Strategy & Innovation. She is an also an Executive Coach accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council. A Fellow and a former Council Member of the Institute of Banking, she held the position of Vice President in 2005.

Deirdre Burns

Deirdre Burns was appointed as Non-Executive Director in May 2017. She has over 25 years of global experience at Board and Senior Leadership levels in Pharmacy, Healthcare, FMCG and Telco sectors. The roles Deirdre has held include Managing Director Boots Ireland, Supply Chain Director Walgreens Boots Alliance and Retail Director EE. She has an impressive Non- Executive portfolio working predominantly with Private Equity companies London in the TMT, Healthcare and Pharmacy sectors.

Deirdre is a native of Belfast and holds an Honours Degree in Pharmacy from Queens University Belfast.

Thomas Devlin

Thomas Devlin began his career in the Post Office in 1976 when he joined the Department of Posts and Telegraphs as a Junior Postman working as a messenger in the Minister’s Office. He is currently employed as a Delivery Service Manager in Swords/Malahide Delivery Service Unit, Co. Dublin. An active member of the Communications Workers’ Union, he served on the National Executive for two years and is currently Chairman of the Dublin Mail Managers Branch.

Jennifer Loftus BAFS FIA FSAI ACCA

Jennifer Loftus is member of the Senior Management Team at Acorn Life where she is employed as Head of Actuarial Function. Her role includes responsibility for statutory and regulatory financial reporting, pricing, reserving, financial modelling and solvency management. Ms Loftus is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (UK) and the Society of Actuaries in Ireland. She has lectured in Actuarial Science on a voluntary basis overseas and has co‑authored a research paper examining the relationship between socio‑economic class and illness.  

David McRedmond

Group Chief Executive Officer

David McRedmond was appointed Chief Executive Officer of An Post in October, 2016.   He was previously CEO of TV3 where he transformed the company into a major Irish broadcaster, concluding with its sale to Liberty Global in December 2015. Prior to TV3, David was the Commercial Director of Eircom and the Managing Director of Eircom Enterprises. His early career was as a retail industry executive in the UK and USA where he held senior roles such as Operations Director of Waterstones, Managing Director of WH Smith Travel Retail and CEO of WH Smith Inc.

David is a native of Dublin, holds a Masters Degree in Modern Irish History from UCD. He is a director of the Ireland Funds, non-executive Chairman of Powerscourt Media (Ireland) and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is a Director of Premier Lotteries Ireland DAC.

William Mooney

William Mooney has worked in the postal service since 1982 and is currently employed as a Post Office Clerk. He is a Director of The Prize Bond Company Limited. He is a member of the National Executive Council of the Communications Workers’ Union and Secretary of the Dublin Postal Clerks Branch. He is a graduate of the National College of Ireland where he studied Human Resource Management and Employee Relations.

Ed Murray B.A., QFA

In his current role as a Senior Investment Manager at Cantor Fitzgerald, Mr Murray provides investment advice to private and corporate clients. Mr Murray has over 23 years’ experience in investment markets, working with local and international clients. Previous roles include Director of Institutional Equity Sales with NCB Stockbrokers and Irish Life and Permanent. 



 
Martina O'Connell

Appointed 1 November 2016; Second Term

Martina O’Connell joined An Post in 1993 as an Auxiliary Postperson and is now working as a Postal Operative in Cork’s South City Delivery Office. Ms O’Connell has been elected President of the Communications Workers’ Union. An active member of the Union since she joined the Company, Ms O’Connell has been a member of the National Executive Council since 2002 and serves on a number of sub committees.


Niall Phelan

Appointed 30 November 2016

Niall Phelan joined An Post in 1987. He initially worked in Mails and Retail Operations moving to Group Technology Services in 1990, where he has gained experience across a wide range of IT roles. In his current position of GTS Project Manager, he is responsible for An Post’s HR/Remuneration and Pensions systems. He is a member of the Communications Workers Union and in 2014 he was appointed as a Trustee to the An Post Superannuation Schemes.

Lorraine Tormey

Postmaster Director
Appointed 1 January 2016; Second Term

Lorraine Tormey has worked in the family Post Office business in Rathowen, Co Westmeath. She was appointed Postmistress there in 2001. She is also Postmistress of Austin Friar Street Post Office in Mullingar. Ms Tormey is Secretary of the Westmeath Branch of the Irish Postmasters’ Union (IPU) and she is involved in a broad variety of local business and community development initiatives.

James Wrynn BSC. BComm., M.B.A.

James Wrynn is a former Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management in The College of Business DIT and Head of the Department of Administrative Studies in DIT’s Faculty of Business. He served on the Board of ESB for more than ten years and during his term of office served as Deputy Chairperson from 1995–2000. He also chaired ESB Board Committees on International Investment and Strategic Response to Deregulation.

Company Secretary

Brian Fay joined An Post in September 2000 and was appointed Company Secretary in August 2014. He is a Chartered Accountant and trained in practice with KPMG. He has previously held senior finance and regulatory positions in the Company. Prior to joining the Company he held senior financial positions in companies within the manufacturing and service sectors.

Aoife Beirne

Chief of Staff

Aoife Beirne was appointed Chief of Staff in June 2017, having joined An Post’s Strategy & Business Excellence team in 2008.   She has more than 14 years’ experience leading business process and operational improvement projects in senior roles across several industries in Ireland, the US, China and the Czech Republic.   A BSc graduate of NUI Maynooth, Aoife also holds an MBA and an H Dip in Quality Assurance.   She is a member of the MBA Association of Ireland and a director of Mergon Group.
 


Garrett Bridgeman

Managing Director – An Post Mails & Parcels


Garrett Bridgeman joined An Post in 1997 as part of the Company’s graduate recruitment programme. He has held several senior managerial positions within the Company’s commercial and operational areas, most recently leading the transformation of An Post’s parcel business.  In October 2017, Garrett was appointed Managing Director of An Post’s Mails and Parcels.  He is a graduate of the Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII) from where he received both the MII Graduate of the Year and the MII Logistics awards.


Debbie Byrne

Managing Director - An Post Retail


Debbie Byrne joined An Post in November 2017. She has extensive strategic, general management and marketing expertise having worked for more than 20 years in a range of top companies such as Grand Metropolitan Europe, L’Oreal (UK & Irl), Eircom and Life Style Sports in senior General Management, Marketing and Strategic Planning roles. A graduate of International Marketing & Languages at DCU and INSEAD’s General Management Programme, she is also a member of the Institute of Marketing (UK).

Human Resources Director


Pat Knight joined An Post in March 2004 as Human Resources Director. Previously, he had been General Manager of Human Resources at Waterford Crystal, which he joinedin 1986 and where he held senior HR roles, both in Ireland and the UK. Previous experience includes work as a Personnel Officer with Bord na Móna plc. He is a Trustee of the An Post Superannuation Schemes and a Director of Air Business Limited.
