Terms and Conditions for the An Post "Christmas at the Post Office" 2017 Competition

1. Eligibility - The competition is open to anyone 18 years of age and over except employees, or family members of such employees, Directors, Officers, or agents of An Post or the Prize Bond Company DAC.

2. Promoter - the Promoter is An Post having its registered office at the GPO, O’Connell Street Lower, Dublin 1, D01 F5P2. Neither the Prize Bond Company DAC nor the Minister for Finance acting through the National Treasury Management Agency have any connection whatsoever to this promotion.

3. Official Entry Forms – A customer who purchases any one of the following in a single transaction - Stamp Booklets, Postmobile, One4all gift cards, PostFX™ Currency Card or executes a Western Union money transfer transaction in any Post Office between 13 November, 2017 until 15 December, 2017 shall be provided with an official entry form to participate in “Christmas at the Post Office” Competition. Only entry forms which have a number printed in the white box on the front of the entry form will be accepted. Only one name is permitted on the entry form and any winnings will be allocated to the person named on the entry form. Persons may enter as often as they wish provided that each entry is on an official entry form. Photocopies of the entry form will not be accepted. Entry forms sent to any address other than that stated in clause 4 below or entry forms sent by fax or e-mail will not be entered into the competition. Incomplete, illegible or late applications will not be accepted. No responsibility will be accepted and no correspondence will be entered into in respect of entries, whether the correspondence relates to claims of entry forms being lost or delayed in the course of delivery or otherwise. Proof of postage will not be accepted as proof of receipt and entry forms will not be returned.

4. Closing Date and competition address – Entry forms must be posted in an envelope addressed to “An Post Christmas Competition, PO Box 12306, Dublin 15” to arrive not later than 5pm on Wednesday, 20 December 2017.

5. Personal Information - The Promoter will hold the entrant’s personal information for the purposes of administering the competition and, if the entrant so permits for direct marketing of the Promoter’s goods and services.

6. The Competition Winner – There will be one Competition Winner, the entrant who, in the opinion of the judges, best completes the phrase “I love receiving Christmas cards in the post because” in ten words or under. The judges will consider punctuation, spelling, grammar, writing, expression, presentation and content. The judges’ decision will be final and binding. The Competition Winner may be asked to provide documentary proof of their name, address and age. The use of a false name or address by an entrant will disqualify them from winning. The Competition Winner may be required to take part in promotional activities and the Promoter reserves the right to publish the entry, name, photograph and value of prizes paid to the winner.

7. The winnings from this Competition -The Competition Winner will be entitled to payment of an amount equal to the value of the cash prizes, if any, won by Prize Bonds to the value of €500,000 (five hundred thousand euro) between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2018. 80,000 Prize Bonds to the value of €500,000 (five hundred thousand euro) are registered in the name of An Post and are subject to the Prize Bond Terms and Conditions. The Competition Winner will be notified of the individual numbers of all of the 80,000 Prize Bonds registered in the name of An Post. If during the period 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018, An Post as registered and beneficial owner of the Prize Bonds wins a cash prize from any of the 80,000 Prize Bonds in the weekly Prize Bond draw, An Post as registered and beneficial owner of the cash winnings from these Prize Bonds, will pay an amount equal to the winnings to the Competition Winner. The Competition Winner will have no entitlement to, or interest in, the Prize Bonds, the principal thereof or the cash prizes (if any) won on any of the 80,000 Prize Bonds. An Post guarantee a minimum payment of €1,000 to the Competition Winner - in the event that Prize Bonds winnings are less than €1,000 during 2018 (such that the amounts paid to the Competition Winner are less than €1,000 during 2018), An Post will pay a supplemental amount to the Competition Winner to bring the total amount paid under this Competition to €1,000. Any payment made by An Post to the Competition Winner will be paid in the form of a crossed cheque and not to any nominee or assignee of the Competition Winner. An Post accepts no responsibility in the case of any disputes over the allocation of winnings.

8. Agreement - The agreement exists between the Promoter and the successful entrants.  No agreement exists between the successful entrants and The Prize Bond Company DAC or the National Treasury Management Agency.

9. Tax Liability – Although such payment by the Promoter An Post to the Competition Winner may be exempt from tax liability, in the event of any tax liability arising, the Competition Winner will bear sole responsibility for all or any taxes payable on the cash winnings and agrees to indemnify An Post in this regard. An Post reserves the right to notify State authorities of the identity of the winner of the competition.

10. Reserved Rights of the Promoter - An Post reserves the right in its absolute discretion to disqualify any entry, to add to, amend or waive any of these Terms and Conditions and, in the event of circumstances beyond its control, to cancel the competition at any stage.

11. Limits to the Promoters liability - An Post accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from the competition or the payment to the Competition Winner.

12. Governing Law - This agreement is governed by the laws of Ireland and subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts. These Terms and Conditions do not affect any statutory rights you may have as a consumer.

13. Terms and Conditions - By entering and participating in the competition, entrants are deemed to have agreed to these Terms and Conditions. Any breach of these Terms and Conditions, as determined exclusively by the Promoter, will result in disqualification.
