60th edition of The An Post Rás sets demanding challenge for riders

26/01/2012 - The 2012 An Post Rás route, the sixtieth anniversary of the race, was announced this morning at the GPO. Laying out a battleground that features 28 categorised climbs, including three of the hardest and best-known ascents in the country, the race looks certain to provide riders with a challenging eight days of racing.

They feature paintings by Peter Curling, Ireland’s leading equestrian artist, of four common Irish horse breeds - The Thoroughbred, the Connemara Pony, the Coloured Horse and the Irish Draught Horse.

06/04/2011 - Republic of Ireland and Reading striker, Shane Long, today launched the 2011 An Post FAI Summer Soccer Schools. One week on from his Man of the Match performance against Uruguay, the championship’s form player joined Megan Campbell, from the Irish U17 World Cup Squad, at Homefarm to kick off this year’s camps.   The 5 day camps will see up to 23,000 children from all over Ireland participating at over 300 venues nationwide.

04/09/2009 - An Post, the Irish Post Office, has today (Friday) issued a stamp to mark the 400th Anniversary of the Plantation of Ulster.  The 55c stamp, issued in Irish and English language versions, features a cartouche or decorated frame which was a feature of maps at the time of the Ulster Plantation.

28/05/2009 - ‘Leaders', a photographic exhibition which showcases the contribution made by migrant networks in Ireland, opened today, Thursday 28 May at the Buttery Cafe in Trinity College Dublin. The exhibition documents the work and achievements of eighteen individuals and organisations in rights advocacy, gender issues, culture, the media, and religion and highlights how these migrant networks facilitate social, cultural, and political integration in Ireland. The exhibition, which is open to the public until 25 June, is organised by the Trinity Immigration Initiative Migrant Networks Project and supported by An Post.

30/03/2009 - A new stamp marking the 150th anniversary of The Irish Times has been issued by An Post. The diamond shaped 55c stamp, designed by Richard Chaney and featuring the famous Irish Times clock which now adorns the entrance to the newspaper’s new premises on Dublin’s Tara Street, was officially unveiled by An Taoiseach, Brian Cowen.

10/10/2008 - An Post today launched the second phase of their acclaimed Irish Music stamp series celebrating the buoyancy and flair of the Irish music scene.  Planxty, De Dannan, The Bothy Band and the Tulla Ceílí Band, four of Irelands’ most renowned and best loved groups are featured in performance on the new stamps.

ComReg Monitor Shows Postal Quality Improvement

15/07/2008 - Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment, Ms. Mary Coughlan T.D. today, (Tuesday, 15th July 2008) launched ‘Six Steps to Reduce your Mailings’ Carbon Footprint’, direct mail guidelines jointly developed by the Irish Direct Marketing Association (IDMA) and An Post. The guidelines are a practical and informative resource for Irish marketers in the planning and development of environmentally responsible direct mail campaigns.

An Post reports record operating profit and strong revenue growth. Mail volumes increase and quality improves

29/04/2008 - An Post has achieved a profit of €43.3m (after-tax) for 2007.    Operating profit doubled to €29.1m, up from €14.7m in 2006.  Reporting a profit for the fourth consecutive year, the company’s year-on-year profit margin almost doubled to 3.3 per cent from 1.8 per cent in 2006.
