An Post Museum

There is so much to know about An Post, that even we can’t tell you about it all. But there is one place that you can go to find out everything you wanted to know about An Post. It’s the An Post Museum and it has an exhibition about the Irish postal service, called Letters, Lives and Liberty!

The An Post Museum is located right inside the GPO. It’s packed full of the history of the Irish Post Office and tells you so many things you didn’t know about your Post Office.

You can learn all about the GPO and about the part the building and its staff played in the 1916 Rising.  You can read letters from hundreds of years ago that describe what life was like back in the olden days and see the old uniform that all the postmen had to wear every day to work.

You can also learn how the Post Office helped people to keep in touch, not only with letters and cards, but by telephone too.

Naturally there are lots of stamps and you can look at all of Ireland's stamps on the Stamps Database in the An Post Museum and you can even design your own stamps.

The An Post Museum shows you how the Post Office really is one of the most important parts of Irish life, from long ago right up to today.
