The An Post Sean Kelly team manager Kurt Bogaerts has named a six man team to compete at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Beloften (1.2) in Belgium on Saturday.
British rider Mark McNally and Australian Scott Law will line up alongside the Belgian quartet of Kenneth Van Bilsen, Joren Segers, Roy Jans and Niels Wytinck for the one day Flanders classic.
It has been a hectic couple of weeks for the An Post team with no less than eleven riders competing in their respective National Championships and team manager Bogaerts believes it is the time of the season where every squad member begins to play their part.
“It’s important to utilise the full squad when picking the team for each race. Some of the riders have been in some very demanding races so now is the right time to rest a few tired legs and give others the chance to come in and take the reins.
“Saturday will be a difficult race against a strong field. The route has plenty of small cobble climbs so it’s important we’re aggressive from the start. As always we will go for the win and hopefully we will be on the podium come the finish”.
Meanwhile, An Post have confirmed sponsorship of Rás na mBan 2012, Ireland’s premier International stage race for women, for the second consecutive year.
The five day race runs from September 9th to 13th next and pits Ireland’s finest local and national talent against a field of top class international riders from Europe and beyond.
The seventh edition of the race comprises of six gruelling stages encompassing over 400 kilometres along the beautiful but challenging roads on the Ring of Kerry.
Full team and route details will be announced in the coming weeks but full race details are available on the official race website at www.rasnamban.com.
