Quartet of Irish riders gear up for Belgian challenge

Conor Dunne left Jack Wilson centre Sean Downey right

A quartet of Irish riders will be in action for the An Post Chain Reaction Sean Kelly team in Belgium on Sunday at Omloop van het Waasland (1.2).

Conor Dunne returns to the squad following illness and joins Jack Wilson, Marcus Christie and Sean Downey in an eight man line up.

The team recorded two good results at the same race last season with Niko Eeckhout climbing the podium in second place and Sam Bennett finishing in tenth. Team manager Kurt Bogaerts is hoping to replicate that result on Sunday.

“We’ll definitely be looking for a podium finish again but we will need luck on our side too and that will play a big part. We haven’t had much of it lately, with a lot of riders crashing out while being in good positions in recent races but we need to just ensure we keep getting ourselves in those positions and the results will come”.
